I'm Tim Chen, a fourth-year Digital Product Designer and an Interactive Arts and Technology (IAT) Student at Simon Fraser University (SFU). My study is focused on UX/UI Design while my program also covers a range of topics inlcuding Graphic, HCI, Product, Game, Web, Writing, Arts, Music, Cinema, Coding and more. Design is one.

With my extensive experience, I have the skills to deeply understand problems and generate creative, multi-faceted solutions. My design process involves a balanced approach of theoretical and intuitive justification, resulting in innovative but also practical and functional design that has a sense of "Rightness", which is a blended sense of aesthetics, elegance and intelligence, it's a good design.

I use an iterative and systematic design thinking approach, starting with problem framing, user research, and brainstorming, from there, I move on to sketching, prototyping from wireframing to high-fidelity, and user testing. I pay close attention to every detail to ensure that my designs effectively communicate the intended message.

I’m also taking the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Certificate at SFU Charles Chang Institute. This program granted me the experience of working in multi-discipline teams with real startups in Vancouver to explore Product-Market-fit, Project management, Pitching and generally the business side of a product. This experience helps me to examine problems and solutions from diverse perspectives.

As a passionate lifelong learner, I am always curious about new technology and ideas while open to new challenges. During my spare time, I read design books and articles for inspiration. I gather creative sparks from everyday observations and envision how they can be transformed into a startup company.

As the go-to tech person in my household, I am responsible for resolving any tech-related issues. I always keep up with the latest technology to help my family live happier.

• Being a vegetarian for 10 years to help save the environment
