Overview

AfterImage is a linear puzzle-solving VR game that offers participants a dreamy and heartwarming experience. Players take on the role of a doctor diving into a patient’s mental world to repair their memories, gradually uncovering the truth about their own identity.

Our goal is to create an immersive narrative that tells a touching story of love and relationships while also raising awareness for individuals on the margins of society, such as those living with mental health challenges or memory-related illnesses.

Project Information

This is a university project for IAT445, Immersive environment.

We were asked to create a vr game in unity that utilizes the strength of vr.

My Role

  • A Technical Artist achieveing visual experience goals through research and problem-solving. I created assets such as waving grass, ocean, and VFX.
  • Texturer making and applying procedural material in blender.
  • Explore, brainstorm and research possible solutions to elevate visual experience.

My Takeaways

  • Experience with Unity and blender.
  • Experience with Unity shader graph, VFX graph and Blender Shader Graph
  • Courage to tackle unknown territory
  • game development processes

Achievement and reflection

  • The game received a perfect score from playtesters, but most importantly, the playtesters were moved by the experience.
  • The game was selected in School's 2024 Fall showcase.
